About the Founder
After attending dozens of family office and alternative investment conferences over the course of nearly a decade, Troy Johns, Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of TABOR Capital Conferences, decided to develop a more effective and valuable platform. TABOR brings elite investment managers together with well-curated actively investing family offices. Troy has more than 25 years of business experience and has had the opportunity to work both here in the United States and internationally in the Cayman Islands. Troy graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Troy began his professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) as a Business Assurance Auditor and an Information Technology Consultant. Following PWC, Troy was One Dun & Bradstreet’s top sales representatives, winning the Firm’s rookie of the year award, along with being the Firm’s #1 sales representative in the Pacific Region before moving to the Cayman Islands. In Grand Cayman, he was one of four people selected by KPMG to start an offshore e-security firm. Troy then returned to Dun & Bradstreet where he was the #2 salesperson in the country for the Firm's premier risk assessment software. Following Dun & Bradstreet, Troy transitioned into the alternative investment world and has had the opportunity to work for several hedge funds, both domestically and in Grand Cayman. Troy understands what it takes to operate a hedge fund and raise significant capital. For nine years he raised money for a diverse group of alternative investment funds while also overseeing many different operational, compliance and finance functions. During his career he has been able to develop hundreds of relationships, and he prides himself on taking the time to understand the needs of his conference attendees. The information that Troy gathers from his network of actively investing Family Offices allows him to reverse engineer the Alternative Investment Manager selection process, thus only inviting the most desirable Managers to the TABOR Conferences. Troy’s disciplined approach has allowed him to develop an efficient and effective conference model, which has been very well received by TABOR attendees. Troy has hosted 23 in-person TABOR Family Office Conferences and two Virtual Introduction Programs since launching the Firm in 2012.
